Amanda Schagane, associate director of UK Alumni Career Services, has been selected for the prestigious and highly competitive National Career Development Association Leadership Academy (NCDA). The goal of the two-year academy is to identify and nurture future generations of NCDA leaders. Every two years, approximately six to eight NCDA members are selected from a pool of candidates from around the world.
Schagane also recently published an article in NCDA’s Career Convergenceweb magazine.
Caroline Francis, director of UK Alumni Career Services says, “Amanda has many years of excellent experience working with clients and brings to our program the highest credentials in the field. Her being selected for the NCDA Leadership Academy is proof that she is a rising star and highly respected by leaders in our field.”
In January, Schagane earned the Certified Career Transition Coach credential with Career Thought Leaders Consortium. This training offered in-depth, practical tools and resources for helping clients navigate successful career transitions. This training program examines the career change process, breaking it down into four stages allowing career clients to identify their key career drivers (interests, strengths, skills, values and more), build on their past work experience so they don’t have to “start over,” integrate career assessments into an actionable career plan and understand how to research career options and make the transition.
Schagane, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UK, is a certified career counselor, certified clinical supervisor of career counseling, Gallup-certified strengths coach — CliftonStrengths Assessment, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator certified practitioner and strong interest inventory certified practitioner. She has more than 11 years of experience in career counseling services and adjunct faculty roles at UK. At UK Alumni Career Services, she assists individual clients, develops career-related programming and writes regular columns for Kentucky Alumni magazine.
“I am thrilled to be accepted into this influential leadership academy and earn the career transition credential this year. Career change is one of the appointment topics our career clients frequently request. I look forward to building our career transition-focused programming efforts,” Schagane says. “Under Caroline’s leadership, UK Alumni Career Services continues to be a highly respected model career services program. I am proud to be on the team.”
