UK Alumni Association clubs have long been a community where members gather to celebrate the Wildcats athletic achievements at Game Watch Parties, and serve as a reason for alumni to get together for reunions and other social engagements.
But club members also show their Wildcat spirit on a regular basis by giving back to their local communities. And this fall, they will again through the Cats for a Cause National Service Week program. Started in 2008, this annual event has grown to include close to 500 volunteers annually.
This year, more than 20 UK Alumni Clubs will participate in a variety of community-oriented activities such as canned food and clothing drives, collecting items to send to local soldiers serving overseas, and preparing and serving meals to the needy.
However, volunteers do not have to be UK Alumni Association members, or members of a specific club. All alumni and friends are encouraged to participate in Cats for a Cause National Service Week.
Individuals who are not in a club area or their schedule does not allow them to participate in their club’s activities but they want to participate in Cats for Cause week, can log their individual hours at www.ukalumni.net/cfacindividual. Once service hours are entered, they are eligible to win a Cats for a Cause T-shirt and other UK alumni giveaways.
For a complete listing of participating UK Alumni Clubs, visit www.ukalumni.net/CatsForACause2018. All club volunteers should register separately.
