UKAA Summer Workshop auction/raffle raises $10K for scholarships

The UK Alumni Association hosted another successful Board of Directors Summer Workshop this past weekend at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort.

Thursday started with tours of the new UK Baseball stadium and Gatton Student Center. Our board members then enjoyed a nice dinner and social hour in the student center ballroom.

Meetings and presentations kicked off the day Friday. UK President Eli Capilouto was the guest speaker at lunch and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association Distinguished Service Awards were handed out during Friday night’s dinner.

Honored with a Distinguished Service Award were Michael Huang, Tanya Jones, Kent Mills and Reese Terry.

The weekend wrapped up Saturday morning with special recognition of outgoing board members Michelle Bishop Allen, Jeffrey L. Ashley, Trudy Webb Banta, Heath F. Bowling, Elizabeth Foster, Kelly Sullivan Holland, Antoine Huffman, Sharon L. Sears, Reese Terry, Dr. Peggy T. Tudor and UK Alumni Association President Susan V. Mustian during the board meeting.

Mustian than passed the gavel to this year’s president Fritz Skeen. Also approved as officers for the coming years are Taunya Phillip (President-elect), Hannah Myers (Treasurer) and UK Alumni Association Executive Director Tim Walsh (Secretary).

The weekend’s silent auction and raffle raised more than $10,000 for the UK Alumni Association Scholarship fund.

Next year’s Alumni Association officers were also approved during Saturday’s meeting. Serving as president is J. Fritz Skeen, Taunya Phillips is President-elect, Hannah Myers is Treasurer and Tim Walsh is secretary.

Enjoy the following photos from staff member Hal Morris highlighting the weekend’s activities.
