The 35th annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards honored alumni and students during a luncheon held Friday, Oct. 9, at the Gatton Student Center on the University of Kentucky campus.
Each academic college selected recipients of the Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Awards for outstanding achievement and Torch Bearer Awards for academic excellence and service to others.
The keynote speaker was Judge Brian Edwards, a 1996 graduate of the UK College of Law who has served on the Jefferson County Circuit Court since 2009. His career includes work in criminal defense and civil rights litigation, judicial leadership and community service. He received the UK College of Law’s Distinguished Jurist Award in 2021.
