RECAP: Growing Together at Summer Workshop 2026

More than 100 alumni leaders, volunteers and friends of the University of Kentucky gathered in Lexington June 11-13, for the UK Alumni Association’s Summer Workshop, an annual opportunity to connect, learn and strengthen the work being done on behalf of Wildcats around the world.

This year’s theme, “Growing Together,” reflected the spirit of the weekend. Through educational sessions, networking opportunities and collaborative discussions, attendees explored how alumni can help students, fellow graduates and communities thrive.

Summer Workshop brings together members of the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors, Leadership Advisory Council, alumni club leaders and constituent group representatives from across the country. The event provides training, updates on university initiatives and opportunities to share ideas that can be taken back to local communities.

Throughout the weekend, attendees heard from university leaders and fellow alumni about topics ranging from student mentorship and alumni engagement to scholarships, volunteer leadership and the university’s statewide impact through the Advancing Kentucky Together Network. Participants exchanged best practices, explored new ways to support students and learned how alumni can continue making a difference long after graduation.

In addition to educational sessions, attendees participated in several interactive activities designed to celebrate the many ways Wildcats support one another. The Growth Garden Wall invited participants to complete the prompt, How can you help Wildcats grow? Volunteers also wrote birthday cards to UK students, offering encouragement and a personal note.

The weekend also included alumni club and constituent group training, committee meetings, networking opportunities and the annual Service Awards Dinner, where alumni and clubs were recognized for their leadership, service and commitment to advancing the mission of the UK Alumni Association.

Summer Workshop serves as a reminder that the strength of the University of Kentucky extends far beyond campus. It lives in the alumni who mentor students, volunteer in their communities, support scholarships and create meaningful connections for Wildcats wherever they live.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared ideas and invested in the future of the UK Alumni Association. Together, we continue to grow opportunities, connections and impact for Wildcats everywhere.
