PrideCats Recognize Meadows with Distinguished Alumni Award

The LGBTQ* UK Alumni Group, also known as PrideCats, helped celebrate #PrideWeek Wed., April 12 at the Lavender Graduation ceremony held in the Singletary Center for the Arts. Lavender Graduation is held for the 2023 graduating seniors.

The PrideCats honored Tuesday Meadows, ’77 BE, with this year’s Bourke-DeLeon Distinguished LGBTQ* Alumni Award.

Meadows is a founding member of the PrideCats and currently serves as immediate Past President of the group. She is enjoying retirement from Kroger where she worked as store manager for more than 40 years. Meadows is actively involved with several different organizations supporting LGBTQ* equality.

The award is selected and presented annually by the PrideCats LGBTQ* UK Alumni Group.

The event consisted of a mixer with students and alumni. The previous recipient of the Bourke-DeLeon Distinguished LGBTQ* Award was Reinette Jones ’83, ’88 CI. Jones is also a founding member of the UK PrideCats.

The LGBTQ* UK Alumni Group was founded in 2016 to promote fellowship among alumni of the University of Kentucky who identify as part of an LGBTQ* community as well as alumni who identify as friends of LGBTQ* communities. This group operates in close connection with the UK Office of LGBTQ* Resources and seeks to bring members together through communication, meetings, gatherings and reunions.

Anyone interested in being added to the distribution list to stay up to date on the latest news and events from PrideCats should visit the group’s website.
