UK junior Logan McIntosh is interested in a career in personal wealth management and financial planning. He reached out to alumni on Wildcat Network seeking someone working in the finance industry who would be willing to speak with him as part of an extra credit opportunity in one of his courses, CIS 300: Strategic Business and Professional Communication.
UK alumna Elizabeth Greer, who serves as chief recruiting officer at Northwestern Mutual, noticed McIntosh’s request on Wildcat Network and worked to connect him with the company’s internship program coordinator Mary Hayes.
Hayes and McIntosh met for an hour over Zoom. Hayes shared helpful information about how McIntosh could get his foot in the door in the financial planning industry as well as the possibility of working as an intern with Northwestern Mutual.
“Wildcat Network put me in contact with some UK alumni who have a great internal perspective of the financial industry, an industry I’m striving to become a part of,” McIntosh said. “Wildcat Network has already opened up a lot of doors for me and I will definitely be taking advantage of it during my time here at UK and as an alumnus in the future.”
