The UK Alumni Association Career Services, in partnership with UK HealthCare, will host its second annual virtual Career Management Week, Nov. 14-18, 2022. Sessions are designed for UK alumni and friends looking to network, proactively manage their careers and seek professional development opportunities. The series will also focus on career pivots and encore careers.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our 20th anniversary of helping UK alumni and friends manage their careers,” said Caroline Francis, director of UK Alumni Career Services. “The world of work and retirement has changed drastically since pre-COVID days. This series will present strategies to help successfully maneuver many phases of one’s career.”

Career Pivots: What’s Holding You Back?
Monday, Nov. 14, Noon – 12:45 p.m. ET

Considering a career change but not sure where to start? Join us as we discuss successful strategies for making a career pivot. Gain personal advice from alumni who have made big career changes.
Panelists include:
- Gwyn Nelson Everly, owner, J. Render’s Southern Table and Bar. Pivoted from electrical engineering to education to restaurant owner.
- Lindsey Caudill, program coordinator, UK Alumni Association. Pivoted from K-12 education to higher education.
- Mark Johnson, president, Art Inc. Kentucky. Pivoted from banking to non-profit art incubator program.

CliftonStrengths® Assessment Workshop
Tuesday, Nov. 15, Noon – 12:45 p.m.

Discover your greatest talents and maximize your potential by using your CliftonStrengths®. This workshop will help you identify your strengths and learn how to utilize them for career success. Living your best life begins when you tap into your unique talents. Go beyond a foundational awareness of your strengths; identify ways to invest in the development of your talents and apply them in your work and life.
The workshop will be facilitated by Amanda Schagane, MSEd, CCC, CCSCC, CCTC, Associate Director, UK Alumni Career Services, and a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. Assessment codes for CliftonStrengths® ($20 value) will be provided by Alumni Career Services for the first 50 registrants to celebrate our 20thanniversary. Proactive Personality and Its Implications for Career Development and Success

Proactive personality has been one of the few personality measures that have been found to correlate with job and career success. In this presentation, the concept and measure of proactive personality will be presented, along with some of the research findings that provide evidence for its role in how employees successfully enter organizations, perform in organizations and establish long-term career success.
