UK Alumni Association Seeks Nominees for 2024 Service Awards

Nominations are being accepted for the UK Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Awards and the Joseph T. Burch Young Alumni Award to be presented at the 2024 Board of Directors Summer Workshop. Deadline for nominations is November 27, 2023.

The Distinguished Service Awards are presented to honor and recognize up to four individuals annually, one of which may be a non-alumni, who have provided extraordinary service to the University of Kentucky and the association.

Nominees for the Distinguished Service Award should have:

– Completed at least 12 credit hours and be members of the UK Alumni Association (alumni recipients only).

– Demonstrated a history of diligent work for the University of Kentucky, which may be in support of the UK Alumni Association and/or other colleges and units of the university.

– Provided leadership and dedication to the university, alumni association programs and/or work with their respective college.

– Provided meaningful service to their communities and professions.

A total of 272 Distinguished Service Awards have been presented. Nominations are considered for three years. Visit the website for more information and to submit an online nomination.

The Joseph T. Burch Young Alumni Award is presented to:

– An alumna or alumnus who is a life or active member of the UK Alumni Association

– An alumna or alumnus who is 35 years of age or less at the end of the awarding fiscal year (i.e., June 30, 2024)

– Not a staff member of the UK Alumni Association, and

– Currently work on behalf of the university, the association, the alumni club or in the local community.

The Joseph T. Burch Young Alumni Award is named for a long-time UK administrator who spent the better part of his life in service to UK students. Nominations are considered for three years or until the nominee ages out of the award’s age restriction.
